The growing prominence of socio-technical systems, driven by developments like Internet of Things (IoT) has brought interactive technologies deeper into everyday life. However, despite decades of research in areas such as ubiquitous computing, tangible interaction and embodied interaction, many contemporary IoT systems still rely heavily on screen-based interfaces through smartphones. This project challenges that norm by proposing Explorify, a music player that embraces rich, embodied interaction as its core. Instead of navigating playlists on a screen, users discover music through physical exploration, encountering unfamiliar songs and sharing listening experiences remotely with others. In doing so, Explorify reflects an alternative vision of IoT interaction, one that prioritizes intuitive, tactile engagement and treats the system as something dynamic, evolving, and experientially meaningful rather than purely functional.
